Halfway There

Week 20!
I can't believe we are halfway to D-Day. The reality of becoming a mom is setting in more everyday.
This week he is about 11oz and the size of a cantalope. I can really feel him move around most days. Still no real punches or kicks but I am sure they are in my near future. He will probably end up being feisty like his daddy. :)
I have still only gained 5 1/2 lbs. According to Baby Center I should start gaining about a pound a week from here. That should put me at 25 lbs heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight when he arrives. I can deal with that!
I am feeling pretty good these days. I don't have all my energy back, but enough to get by. The heartburn sucks, but I am learning to live with it. I wake up every morning with a smile on my face because I have the most wonderful, loving, and supportive husband AND we are one day closer to meeting our son. That makes for a great start to a day!
His crib and mattress are up thanks to his daddy. I am trying not to buy any more baby stuff until after our shower in November. I have gone a little baby stuff crazy and have bought more than I should have. I just can't resist all those cute baby clothes, blankets, etc.

19 Weeks!

Today starts Pregnancy-Week 19.
I can't believe it's going by this fast. Right now it is at least. I am sure the bigger I get and the closer we get to my due date the slower things will seem. I am trying not to rush through this and take time to enjoy the pregnancy, but it is really hard. I am so excited about meeting our little guy and my 12 weeks at home with him.

Our little guy's stats:
This week he is the size of a mango. (But a whole lot sweeter!) He is probably weighing in at about 8.5 oz. Last week at our ultrasound he was estimated at 7 oz. which is a little bigger than Baby Center was predicting. But he is right on track.

How I am feeling:
I am still tired most of the time but not as much as in my first trimester. I am actually staying up until dark these days. That's an improvement! Even though I am taking Zantac for the heartburn and indigestion that set in during the 1st trimester, I am starting to have issues with this again. I need to lay off the tomatoes and hot stuff. But it seems like that's about all I want these days.

Movement:
I am feeling him move around a little bit but haven't felt any kicks or jabs just yet. He doesn't move around a lot during the day but gets pretty active at night. That will def. have to change once he is born! Right about the time that the heartburn starts up he starts to do flips. You know the feeling you get on a roller coaster when you suddenly drop from way up high? Your stomach turns. That's what it feels like. Some nights he is more active than others. I get pretty nauseous when he is really active.

To do's:
We haven't really accomplished anything from last week's list. This has been William's week on call and it has been pretty hectic.
I did get Season 4 of Weeds though!! Itunes was having a sale on it this past weekend so William went ahead and got it for me. I have only watched one episode so far but we have a 3 day weekend coming up so I am sure I will go through most of the season then!
I have added one thing to our to do's. I am planning to call the education dept. at the hospital today to see if they offer childbirth and newborn care classes. I hope I haven't waited to long to be able to get us in. I was reading that you should sign up for these while in your 1st trimester because they fill up quickly.
My goal this weekend is to finally get the crib. I have been putting it off for long enough now. I have been looking at crib bedding for a few weeks and still haven't come across anything that I love that will go with the furniture and carpet. It's becoming very frustrating. Hopefully this weekend I will have a chance to go and do some looking around to get some ideas.

18 weeks - Our little yam!

Baby Peacock is now the size of a sweet potato! Approx. 5 1/2" long and weighing in at a whopping 7 ounces.

Updates:
*I have felt a few flutters here and there but not any major movement yet. Hopefully that will be coming soon.
*I have lost my appetite for the most part. I get hungry every few hours but never in the mood for anything. Jalapenos have been about my only craving and it's been sporadic. Meat is pretty iffy with me lately. Some days I can eat certain meats and other days all I want is vegetables. I also can't eat as much at one time as I used to. Hooray for less weight gain!! I could throw down a 12" sub from Subway in a heartbeat before I got pregnant. Now it takes effort to eat a 6". But I get a 12" anyways because a few hours later I can finish it. ;)
*I am only 2.5 lbs heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight.
*The heartburn is finally under control. There for a while I thought my insides were going to burn up before the baby came. Marzbani put me on Zantac and I have only had a few episodes since.
*I still have lower abdominal cramps but the Dr. assured me its just because I am growing and stretching. It mainly only bothers me when I move to fast, stretch, or cough.

We are almost halfway there and I get more and more excited everyday. I am also a little overwhelmed because we still have so much stuff to do to get ready for Baby.
After tomorrow I will really be able to start planning and get a lot done because we will know if we need PINK or BLUE!

Things to do in the next few weeks:
Put down new tile in kitchen
Buy crib
Buy more maternity clothes (i am growing out of my pre-pregnancy clothes quickly)
Register for Baby items at Target
Get Season 4 of Weeds and watch before baby arrives - Very Important!
Most Important - Spend some quality time with my wonderful hubby while it's just us!

Tomorrow night I will post pics of our little yam and some belly pics too.

17 Weeks

Every week I get an update on Baby Peacock from babycenter.com and thebump.com. I love Wednesday's because of these e-mails. Below is this weeks update from Baby Center.

Baby Peacock is now the size of an onion. I love the food comparisons.

We have our mid-pregnancy ultrasound next Thursday at 4pm. As long as the little one cooperates we should find out if we are having a boy or girl and I can stop saying "it". I will also have some pictures to show!

From babycenter.com
How your baby's growing:
Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

How your life's changing:
Starting to feel a bit off balance? As your belly grows, your center of gravity changes, so you may begin to occasionally feel a little unsteady on your feet. Try to avoid situations with a high risk of falling. Wear low-heeled shoes to reduce your risk of taking a tumble; trauma to your abdomen could be dangerous for you and your baby. You'll also want to be sure to buckle up when you're in a car — keep the lap portion of the seat belt under your belly, drawn snugly across your hips, and also use the shoulder harness, which should fit snugly between your breasts. You may also notice your eyes becoming drier. Using over-the-counter lubricating drops may help. If your contact lenses become uncomfortable, try wearing them for shorter stretches of time. If you still have discomfort, switch to glasses until after you give birth.

Due Date

Jan. 27th, 2010

I haven't posted it until now because my doc. didn't give me one until my last ultrasound. We found out we were expecting pretty early, at about 5 weeks, so he wanted to wait until he could measure everything a little better. Last week, 06/11, I saw the heartbeat for the 1st time. We couldn't hear it yet but I did see the little flicker.
So as of today I am 8 weeks prego. We have a long way to go and it seems like a lifetime away. At least we have plenty of time to prepare for our little one. We have tons to do and I am a huge procrastinator!

Exhaustion & Mood Swings

Exhaustion
I have never in my life been as tired as I have been these last few days. Just getting out and bed and getting ready for work wears me out so much I feel like I need a nap before working an 8 hour day. 2 months ago I could work 10 or 11 hours, come home, cook and clean, relax for a bit, and still have to force myself to go to bed at 10 so I could function the next day. Those days are OVER, for a while at least. Every night last week I was in bed and asleep by 9. I used to go to bed at 10, read for about 30 minutes or so, and then still have a hard time falling asleep. Now I can't get through 1 page of a book before I pass out.
Last night was the worst. I had a rough day which I am sure contributed to my exhaustion. At 8:30 I couldn't stay awake any longer. I went to bed and read half of a chapter of "Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy" and was out. I woke up at 6 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. I mean, I had been in bed since 8:30 the night before. Probably time to get up. Ha, think twice. I got on the couch to watch some TV so I wouldn't make to much noise, trying to let William get a few more hours of sleep. By 6:30 I was asleep again. My bladder and empty stomach woke me up at 9. Off to Bojangles I went. Yum! You will never guess this one..... I was back asleep at 11 this morning and finally got up for the day at noon. I should feel more energized than ever but I am fighting the urge to take another nap.
I also may not be getting a restful nights sleep due to this uncontrollable overactive bladder that has taken up residence in my body. I pee ALL THE TIME. I go right before I get into bed, again about 12 to 1, then again about 3 to 4. When I get up between 6 or 7 for the day I run straight for the bathroom AGAIN. I have never been one to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. Up until pregnancy my body has always dealt with it long enough for me to get how ever much sleep I wanted.

Mood Swings
I want to start off with an apology to my wonderful husband and anyone who comes into contact with me within the next 34 weeks. Sorry ya'll. I will get better. :)
I am off my meds so I am sure that has something to do with all this.
I go from being on top of the world to totally pissed off feeling like I won't make it through the next 10 minutes to crying my eyes out. Nothing has to happen for me to get mad, happy, or upset. I am hoping this will get better over time or that I will learn how to deal with all these changes a little better. I feel a little immortal these days with all these changes going on. On top of that I am completely terrified now that the reality of me being responsible for another human being for the rest of my life has set it. But I already love this little one more than anything in this world. And he/she has already become the center of my world. I eat, sleep, and breath baby. Making a little time for Dada Peacock. :)

Update

Nothing to exciting to report just yet. Dr. Marzbani did confirm that we are pregnant. They took some blood to determine my HCG levels. Depending on the test results I will go in for my first OB appointment next week or the week after. He did an external ultra sound but its still a little to early to see anything. Hopefully next time.
William is already showing how amazing he can be. He is getting a little protective of me. :). He is weary of me touching the cats AND he has done this dishes for 2 nights in a row. I think I can live with this! I am falling more and more in love with him everyday. He has already mastered being an amazing husband and I am positive he will be an amazing dad.

Symptoms as of 05/27/2009

Nothing to extreme yet.
For the past 3 to 7 days:
Tender breasts
Slight abdominal cramping
Frequent urination
Occasional Bojangles cravings

Hoping good ole Morning Sickness never shows her face.

Expecting!

On Monday, May 25, 2009 at 4pm my life changed forever. I FINALLY got a positive pregnancy test result. I have been dreaming of this day for as long as I can remember. I had always imagined what this moment would be like. It was NOTHING like I imagined. I was thrilled but all of a sudden I felt extremely overwhelmed and my mind started racing. All I could think was, "We have so much to do." "Can we really afford this?" "What do we do now?" "I need a new car." "Stop smoking, NOW." "Should I tell William now, or wait until the doctor confirms it?" And so on and so on. All the while I am reading the instructions to the HPT over and over again as if it takes a rocket scientist to work these things. Finally, after what seems like a lifetime in the bathroom with my mind racing, I say aloud for the first time ever "I am pregnant."
I am a woman so I can't keep my mouth shut about to much of anything for very long so of course I run to the office to tell William our news. He is sitting there peaceful, content, childless, with no worries in sight, and I blurt out, "We're pregnant." At first I think he was shocked. We were trying to get pregnant so we knew if was coming but I don't think you are ever truly ready for that moment. He takes a breath and says to me, "Damn Right". :) I love him so!
Tomorrow, 05/28/2009 I go for my first appointment since becoming pregnant. It's not my first OB appointment but they will confirm for us that we are indeed expecting. In some ways I need this confirmation from the doctor. I don't "feel" pregnant. I am sure at 5 weeks most women don't. I always envisioned knowing and feeling different once it happened. That's not the case but I am sure that will change very soon.
Tomorrow they will start to ween me off my anti-depressants which scares the hell out of me. They have made life so much easier. Hopefully the joy of being pregnant will be enough to keep my emotions in check for the next 9+ months.
